OpenHome Renderer on Raspberri Pi (Synchronized playback needed)
All,

I've been on the quest of the holy grail for some time now... a UPnP based home media system with:

Android Control Points
Raspberry Pi Renderers
and Windows based media Server

WITH the killer feature: Synchronized playback (i.e. 'Part Mode').
The UPnP guys have basically said - No Way, and OpenHome seems to offer the way to get this done.

Has anyone got any advice of how I can achieve this? I was thinking:

Kinsky on the Android Control Points
Twonky/Bubble UPnP server
...... no idea how to do the Raspberry Pi renderers.

Any advice anyone? Do I need to get my hands dirty and code one?

Cheers

matt

RE: OpenHome Renderer on Raspberri Pi (Synchronized playback needed)
Hi Mat,

I am also looking for a renderer that will work on the RPi...

I tried compiling the MediaRenderer here and it is ok but still some more work left to do on it.

Unfortunately I don't know C++ too well, and so have been messing about trying to write a Java renderer, but it's early days yet..

I haven't yet thought about party mode, but OpenHome do Songcast, maybe someone else can comment on that.. Songcast

For the Control Point Kinsky is very good.

For Media Servers the best I have found are MinimServer (based on ohNet) and Asset.

Cheers,

Pete.
